The reason they don't help because of the unscrupulous elder woman who put the blame of her accident on the person who help her. The case went to court and the judge sided with the elder woman. Another thought, being a Chinese myself even though I'm a 4th generation Malaysian I also understand the cultural factor behind such antipathy.
